WoW Client Installation Guide for Azerothcore Private Server

This guide will help you set up the correct World of Warcraft client to connect to our community dLAN WoW Server running on Azerothcore (wow.dlan.online).

Step 1: Download the WoW 3.3.5a Client

Azerothcore is based on the WoW 3.3.5a (Wrath of the Lich King) client. You can download it from one of these sources:

Step 2: Install the Client

  1. Once downloaded, extract the files to your desired location
  2. Run the installer if provided, or simply extract all files to a folder of your choice
  3. Wait for the installation to complete

Step 3: Configure the Client to Connect to Our Private Server

  1. Navigate to your WoW installation folder
  2. Look for the WTF folder. If it doesn’t exist yet, start the game once and exit to create it
  3. Inside the WTF folder, locate the Config.wtf file
  4. Open this file with any text editor
  5. Add or modify the following lines:
SET realmlist "wow.dlan.online"
SET realmName "dLAN WoW Server"
SET patchlist "wow.dlan.online"
SET portal "wow.dlan.online"

Note: If the file doesn’t exist yet, create it with these contents.

Step 4: Additional Configuration (Optional)

For better performance, consider adding these lines to your Config.wtf file:

SET gxApi "d3d9"
SET gxCursor "0"
SET gxFixLag "0"
SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000"
SET gxRefresh "60"
SET gxResolution "1920x1080"
SET gxWindow "0"

Adjust the resolution (1920x1080) to match your display.

Step 5: Connect to the Server

  1. Start the WoW client by running Wow.exe
  2. Enter your credentials (create an account on the server first if needed)
  3. Click “Connect” and you should see our community server in the realm list

Troubleshooting

If you encounter connection issues:

  1. Ensure your Config.wtf changes were saved correctly
  2. Verify the server address is correct (wow.dlan.online)
  3. Check your firewall settings to ensure WoW has network access
  4. Ensure you’re using the correct client version (3.3.5a/12340)
  5. Try adding the server IP directly if DNS resolution fails

Cache Clearing (If Needed)

If you experience graphical glitches or interface issues:

  1. Navigate to your WoW folder
  2. Delete the Cache folder
  3. Restart the client
