Website speed is an important ranking factor for Google’s SEO and no doubt Bing and such will follow suit assigning points based on website loading speed,

You can test your website’s performance via the Full Page test at Pingdom, I’ve done some basic tweaks to WordPress and managed to get the speed down to under 1 second

I can only see the loading time increasing in the near future and when they does then I will consider using nginx as a reverse proxy to serve static content and allow Apache to deliver the php files which will additionally speed things up,
